The Next Steps Pastor will provide ministry development in the areas of adult connections and outreach to help Bethel grow and continue to have a positive impact in the community-at-large. This includes developing a small group system, orchestrating Rooted, preaching, coordinating community outreach events and participation, and more...
Strategic Vision Execution - How do we influence people to consistently take their next step with Jesus and live out our vision? How do we cultivate those essential skills, beliefs, and practices that we’re aiming for in our people? How do we consistently offer opportunities and on-ramps to the systems that drive our vision forward (Groups, Teams, Rooted, etc.)?
System and Culture Optimization - Taking the systems we already have in place (including the roll-out of Rooted) and increasing our intentionality with them so that we can cultivate a disciple-making culture. Also, increasing awareness within our Sunday morning crowd and removing as many barriers as possible that keep people from plugging into those systems.
Connections - create environments and gatherings for people to move forward in the faith with Bethel.
Outreach - own events and strategies to reach new people.
Groups - Recruit, onboard, and empower Group leaders.
Teams - Stay connected with Team Leaders to stay in touch with the state of serving at Bethel and invest in them as leaders.
Rooted - Work with volunteers to coordinate Rooted programming each year.
Preaching - Second Communicator whenever Nathan is unavailable.
Community Involvement - Take advantage of opportunities to serve and be a presence in the community.
Ministry Support - miscellaneous tasks and projects as they arise such as Counseling/Pre-marital Counseling, Occasional Care Visits/Hospital Visits, etc.
Formal Requirements are less important in our minds than an obvious gifting for leadership, vision, and relatability. Experience connecting with and leading people. An understanding of leadership, especially in regard to personal influence and the importance of culture. Bethel has a constant dance to manage balancing differences in expectations, paces, and personal interactions due to the cultural differences between small towns and rural communities.
