Blue Springs Christian Church (BSCC) has been guiding their community into a fully devoted relationship with Jesus for the past four decades. This church of 1,000 (pre-Covid) is in the far east suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri. With an expansive facility and a remodeled worship center they are ready to once again “get back to normal this fall.” But they know that without taking serious steps forward in their digital online presence and practices, they will not be able to complete the mission they are called to, which is to reach and engage the lost.
“We are a Both/And church in our Outreach Ministry--both Attractional and Missional,” says Senior Pastor Dave Ferneau. Dave has faithfully served BSCC for three decades. “We are a Both/And church and by that, I mean, we are both Attractional and Missional, and we are a phygital church--both digital and in person. We believe relationships and prayer are essential to reaching people in a post-Christian culture. Out mindset is one of being missionaries.”
BSCC is positioned to be a missionary in the Eastern Jackson County suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri, including Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Independence, and Lee’s Summit. These suburbs are growing with new homes and young families. It is a short drive to the 30th largest metro area in the country. Kansas City is home to the Royals, Chiefs, and of course…BBQ! This role oversees guest services and follow up with new people, is an evangelism champion for the staff and church, leads missions and the first steps classes. This role provides the vision and resources needed to ensure reaching people for Christ is always the “main thing” at BSCC. This is seen through events as well as teaching individuals how to share their faith in their personal lives.
There is a new level of team-building needed for the next step in outreach at BSCC. There is too much to do by yourself, as responsibilities have grown beyond that which one staff leader can do. “We are looking for teams to be raised up and for this person to be a leader of leaders,” says Dave.
A candidate who will succeed in this role will come to the table with ideas and a vision for reaching the lost, and the ability to share that vision with others to invite them into the work of evangelism.
Are you a candidate who:
// loves lost people and primarily sees the function of the church as one of evangelism?
// can think strategically across all areas of a church and foster a growing evangelistic temperature?
//can build, equip, and empower teams of volunteers to be the church?
//can view the church and its programs through the eyes of an unreached person and then work to make everything more attractive and easier to navigate for that unreached person?
//can create events and processes that invite a person into an ever deepening relationship with Jesus Christ?
