Director of NextGen Ministry

The Director of NextGen Ministry will serve as a member of the Executive Staff and will be an experienced and strategic leader that will provide direction and oversight for our youth, families, children, and next generation programs. This role requires 5+ years experience directly managing ministry staff and volunteers, casting vision to teams (paid and volunteer), and developing a pathway for discipleship from childhood through high school graduation.

The Director of NextGen will oversee a team of 3 direct reports and be responsible for actively recruiting, leading, and nurturing volunteer leaders across all programs. The person must have a proven capacity to motivate and rally staff and congregation members around strategic goals to reach students and families. Strong management, collaboration, strategic planning and interpersonal skills are paramount. Above all this person must have a contagious passion for Jesus and feel called to serve students and families.

This position will require flexibility in the hours available for work, including evenings and weekends. This will be a salaried position.

Basic Function: Works closely with the Lead Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Family Ministries Staff to develop and implement a comprehensive program of Christian Next Generation ministry, birth to High School.

Compensation $75 - $115K, based on experience

Key Duties

Team Leadership & Vision Casting

  • Directly lead a staff of 3; oversee and guide volunteer teams
  • Craft and clearly communicate vision and strategy for all youth and family ministries
  • Understands systems theory and can implement systems in ministry environments
  • Partner with Lead Pastor on long-term vision and direction

  • Strategic Planning & Oversight

  • Create and implement spiritual discipleship programming from childhood through 12th grade
  • Ensure curriculum aligns to church mission and values
  • Plan yearly calendar and set milestones for each program area

  • Community Outreach

  • Develop partnerships and relationships with local schools and organizations
  • Represent church at community events to increase engagement

  • Student & Family Ministry

  • Personally spearhead high school and middle school programs (including teaching and leadership responsibilities)
  • Organize events, camps, and activities for students and families
  • Provide care and counseling as needed

  • Volunteer Management

  • Recruit volunteers with specific skills/interests to lead individual programs
  • Onboard and train new volunteers; provide ongoing support and appreciation

  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • The candidate should have a degree in Christian Education, Youth Ministry, and/or other degree with practical experience in children and family ministries. Bachelor’s degree or MDiv degree from an accredited seminary is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in youth and family ministry leadership.
  • Experience in developing and implementing youth and family ministry programs.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse leaders, members of the church congregation, and community.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with ability to relate well to students and adults.
  • Authentic faith that students can see and desire to emulate.
  • Self-motivated individual who understands current youth culture and how to connect it to the Gospel.
  • Possesses high degree of creativity.
  • Track record working as a team member and team leader.
  • Ability to travel internationally.

  • Desired Experience/Skills

  • Basic Computer skills including Microsoft 365 / Office / Teams and Google docs/sheets
  • Able to use social media Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Familiar with Social Media management tools (e.g. Hootsuite, SproutSocial, Meltwater, etc...)
  • Working knowledge of church-related software (e.g. ProPresenter, Planning Center Online, etc...)
