Job description
The Family Discipleship Pastor works in cooperation with the Lead Pastor and is a champion for marriages and families. The unique function of this position is to be the key advocate of parents and families and imagine and implement new ideas and methods of evangelism and discipleship. Our ideal pastor will be able to build a high-impact Marriage and Family Ministry that can serve several hundreds of children and adults at various stages of marriage, pre-marriage, and family life. This strong leader will be coordinating with all ministries within the church, while overseeing children’s ministry, to make the biggest strategic impact on households and to ensure that people in the community are being reached and cared for. This person will have a firm grasp on the purpose, values, and strategy of the church as they lead these ministries at EFCC.

Job requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Family Ministry:
- Partner with the Lead Pastor to develop and implement a strategy for on-going discipleship, from birth through adulthood, parenting, and marriage enrichment and encouragement, in collaboration with all EFCC ministries.
- Recruit, develop, and enable, a ministry team, including training and team building opportunities in order to facilitate the larger discipleship vision of EFCC.
- Lead the ministry team, pastorally, with goal setting, accountability, and coaching.
- Facilitate and coordinate the recruiting, training, orientation, and oversight of volunteers along with the children’s, youth, and college ministry teams.
- Effectively seek, invite, and welcome new families from the community.
- Contribute to the men’s discipleship ministry and strategically connect the ministries to connect with marriage and family.
Small Groups:
- Oversee and grow a vibrant ministry of Small Groups as a strategy of discipleship.
- Recruit, train, and encourage small group leaders and participants.
- Seek new ways of utilizing the ministry for the purpose of sharing the gospel in the community.
Marriage Ministry:
- Serve as the primary leader and host of the marriage ministry.
- Develop and implement a church-wide vision to meet the needs of married & pre-married couples, strengthening marriage and developing oneness in their relationships.
- Recruit and equip adult disciples as leaders and mentors in the ministry.
- Actively engage other ministries with particular emphasis on the Next Gen and Lead Pastor to coordinate and support them in areas related to marriage and parenting.
Children’s Ministry:
- Oversee and empower the Children’s Ministry Director to collaboratively set the vision, mission, and direction.
- Ensure children’s ministry curriculum, teaching, and culture is in line with EFCC beliefs, purpose, mission, and discipleship strategy.
- Ensure that the ministry and facilities are safe, inspiring, and fun.
- Prepare for, oversee, and support children’s ministry events on or off campus as required.
Generally:
- Attend weekend gatherings.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Respond to any staff/volunteer/people concerns in a timely manner.
- Office hours Monday through Thursday.
- Cultivate a ministry where lost people are saved and that saved people are sanctified.
- Develop, oversee, and implement strategies that support marriages, families and children in alignment with the vision of EFCC.
- Collaborate with ministries and leaders at all organizational levels.
- Agree with the beliefs of EFCC and a willingness to abide by staff policies.
Minimum Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Biblical training in Bible school and/or Seminary
- Experience leading and teaching family and/or children’s ministries, marriage ministry, or small groups.
- Commitment to pursue and complete ministry licensing by the EFCA.
- Team-builder and team-player with good communication skills.
- People oriented, while being adequately organized and detail-oriented.
- Able to connect people successfully to community, service, and leadership opportunities.
- Able to be a hard-working, independent self-starter on vision and tasks.
- Able to envision and implement hospitable environments yourself and through others.
- Able to lead with clarity and calmness in high stress situations.
- Able to keep up with the physical demands of the job.
- Enthusiasm and passion to serve EFCC in any way needed.
