SUMMARY

The Student Pastor will shepherd all who are involved in student ministries (students & leaders) as his primary pastoral flock, seeking to lead those in his care to a closer walk with Jesus Christ. He will report directly to the Senior Pastor. This is a full-time position located in Morton, Illinois.

STUDENT MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee, lead and support the student ministries (grades 6-12) of Grace Church
  • Actively equip parents for their role in the spiritual training of students
  • Partner with the deacons serving within student ministries
  • Identify, equip and coach adult volunteer leaders
  • Develop relationships through personal contact with students
  • Creatively plan ministry opportunities & fellowship activities for students as a part of the annual ministry calendar
  • Partner with the Pastor of Missions & Outreach to identify and provide short-term missions and local outreach opportunities for the students


  • GENERAL PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in proactively and reactively caring for the congregation through prayer, visitation, and pastoral counseling in cooperation with the other pastoral staff and the Elder Team
  • Assist in worship services, including preaching when requested by the Senior Pastor
  • Serve in other ministry capacities as requested by the Senior Pastor
  • Officiate weddings and funerals when requested
  • Attend and participate in regular pastoral meetings, as well as elder meetings as requested
  • Attend all regularly scheduled services and special events of Grace Church
  • Serve in FEC as time and opportunity permit
  • Report directly to the Senior Pastor and meet with him on a regular basis for accountability, encouragement, and development, while also being under the broader authority of the Elder Team

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of pastoral ministry experience in a similar role preferred
  • Undergraduate degree with Bible emphasis required
  • Graduate degree (or ongoing education) preferred
  • Willingness to pursue further formal training (if needed, church will assist)
  • The pastor should reflect the qualities of a shepherd described in Scripture, including Titus 1.5-9, 1 Timothy 3.1-7, and 1 Peter 5.1-4.
  • The pastor will affirm and agree to abide by the Articles of Faith, Practice, and Organization of the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches.
