Founded in 1992, Grace Fellowship began with a small group of families meeting in rented facilities. DeMotte, IN is a rural community of 4000 with a surrounding population of several thousand. Over twenty-seven years Grace has grown to an average attendance of 650 in three services. Pastor Tim Hester was the founding pastor and continues to lead the ministry.
Grace Fellowship is currently experiencing a renewal of purpose and vision. For the first twenty years Grace experienced consistent numerical growth. Over the last five years that growth has leveled off for several reasons. Presently they feel a renewed energy for the mission and vision of Grace Fellowship. The church is currently in a three year vision campaign entitled, "For the Community." Several initiatives have been developed to be a catalyst for ministry within DeMotte and the surrounding communities.
The leadership at Grace Fellowship believes genuine Jesus followers will make the gospel compelling first by example and second by creating conversations where spiritual questions can be answered. The weekend service and various community outreach events are the major tools to share the gospel with others beside encouraging everyone to share their story and love their neighbor.
Grace Fellowship is looking for a self-motivated, creative individual to partner with the student ministry leadership team that will reach the youth and their families. The Associate Pastor will work closely with volunteers in the student ministry areas to not only reach, but then disciple the teens so that the impact is felt in DeMotte, the surrounding communities and then beyond! The youth ministry spans the grades of 6 to 12.
In addition to students, this gifted Associate Pastor will use his gifts to extend into other areas of the ministry. This portion of the role has some flexibility based on skill set and passion but can include preaching, executive duties, overseeing other staff, shepherding/counseling among other pastoral opportunities.
The reality is, it is a unique place, DeMotte feels small, yet it has everything! It’s an ideal place for someone who doesn’t want the hustle and bustle of the large city and/or performance driven ministry; but don’t let this fool you, the church hopes to build a robust and vibrant ministry that reaches many for Jesus! This could be an ideal fit for a person who is driven by active ministry, but drawn to depth of relationship afforded by smaller-town living. DeMotte is less than 90 minutes away from major metropolitan areas yet maintains a lower cost of living and slower pace of life. The Associate Pastor will have ample opportunity for personalized ministry, where doing life with students and adults is the primary goal.
A resounding "it's time to remodel this ministry" is the call from the staff, elders and leaders at Grace Fellowship.
The new Associate will take time to build relationships, but then have freedom to create, recreate & expand the ministry to middle and high school students— very few traditions (if any) exist (which could be seen as a blessing)— the new Associate Pastor will need to have the ability to build upon the solid foundation of high school students and establish creative ways to minister to the smaller middle school group.
A growing group of elementary students are knocking on the doors of the middle school ministry and will provide a good number of students in the years to come.
The new person should have an outward-faced demeanor (likely be or lean towards being an extrovert) so that he can lead by example as he reaches out through life-style ministry and creative programming.
The broader role as Associate (see Job Description below) would be best served by someone who can bring some organizational or administrative gifts. The key to growing the ministries at Grace Fellowship will be to have someone who understands the scaling of size and scope of specific ministries. The Associate will oversee other staff leading in the programmatic elements of the ministry.
The new Associate Pastor will need to recruit, train and sustain a base of volunteers to lead growing ministries. This person should have confidence in his abilities with adults while still maintaining solid relationships with students. This person will empower the leaders in every way to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
The Associate Pastor of Grace Fellowship understands, embraces and is committed to the vision/mission of Grace Fellowship and serves to implement the strategies developed to fulfill that vision/mission. The Associate Pastor reflects in their own personality and ministry philosophy the culture and DNA of Grace Fellowship.
Grace Fellowship is a Staff Led, Elder Protected Organization. The Associate Pastor works alongside and assists the Lead Pastor in implementing the vision, mission and ministry strategy of Grace Fellowship. He reports directly to the Lead Pastor.
This person will be task oriented with the ability to navigate the relational and organizational tensions related to growing ministries. He will consistently demonstrate servant leadership. He will be well organized and future thinking with a high level of competence in various areas of technology and communication. He will demonstrate a deep spiritual passion for his own personal growth as well as those he leads. He will exhibit a genuine passion for students and their spiritual walk with Jesus. He will have five to ten years of experience in organizational leadership in either business or church related fields.
