Job description

Grace Church LB is not only located in the heart of Long Beach, CA but is a church with a heart for Long Beach. When Grace Long Beach was planted over 120 years ago one of the core missions was to bring the good news to the children and youth of Long Beach through their childrens and youth ministry programs and faithful teaching of the word of God. Many things have changed since the church began but the passion for passing along their faith to the next generation remains steadfast and continues to be strong value today.

Established in 1913 Grace Long Beach is a multi-generational church family that has been part of the Long Beach community for almost 120 years. At Grace, you’ll discover a wide variety of people who share one thing in common—we find our identity in Jesus Christ and believe our story is part of God’s larger plan to renew all of his creation through the gospel of the kingdom. We have a legacy of faithful leadership with only 5 lead pastors over the course of our history. Grace identifies itself with classical Christianity. By that, we mean the essentials of Christian belief through the age.

Currently with an attendance over 300, Grace Church LB has a mix of a traditional and contemporary expression of church, with a modern worship approach, and a ministry function and structure of a traditional church. There is a high level of reverence and love for the word of God and strong biblical teaching.

A unique story about the history of Grace Church is in the 1970's there was an arsonist targeting churches. Grace was one of the churches targeted. As a result, they moved to their current location!

The Next Generation:

We take seriously our call to pass on the faith to the children and youth that God has entrusted to us. This takes a village, which means people of all life stages are involved and invested in discipling the next generation. We give time, money, and care towards this effort and include children and youth in the life of our community, so that they might encounter the generous love of God and know that they have a part to play. We have a historically strong Children's Ministry and we're excited to see how God will use the next person in that seat to steer us on towards even greater things.

AT GRACE KIDS WE WANT TO PROVIDE A SPACE WHERE KIDS FEEL SAFE AND CARED FOR, SO THEY CAN COME TO LEARN ABOUT THE LOVE OF JESUS AND LEARN TO LOVE OTHERS WELL.

OUR VISION & VALUES

At Grace Kids we want to provide a space where kids feel safe and cared for, so they can come to learn about the love of Jesus and learn to love others well.

Be Safe.

Be Engaging.

Be Courteous.

Be Consistent.

GRACE KIDS is a thriving ministry! Grace Church adult attendance is around 230 while GRACE KIDS attendance averages 80 kids! Not only that but the volunteer team is solid, consistant and has a completely full monthly roster! This whole church gets involved with the next generation!

GRACE KIDS is in a season of RESET. The Interim Children's Pastor is focusing on policies, procedures and spaces. Updating and revamping where needed. They are in a season of getting ready for what God is going to do next.

Sunday

They have one Sunday service from 9:30 -10:45 AM.

Children 6mos - Kindergarten are checked in and placed in their corresponding age group. In their large classrooms, they participate in free play, Bible stories, Bible verse practice and music. Each class has three or four leaders to engage with the kids and show them Jesus' love.

Children in 1st - 5th grade attend worship services with their parents. They participate in music and the reading of scripture and then are released to their teachers in the lobby. The teachers energetically await the kids emerging from the sanctuary and they them to their classrooms where they participate in small group bible study.

The grades are divided 1st/ 2nd grade and 3rd/4th/5th. All elementary classes meet on the second floor. Currently, the 5th grade boys seem to monopolize the attendance!

After service

The patio and common areas are full with everything from kids coloring tables to a full gaga ball court. Kids are welcome at Grace Church and it is obvious!
