Job description

Hurricane Community Church (HCC) is an historic, semi-rural family of faith with deep roots and lasting impact in its community for over 100 years. Since 2017, the leadership of HCC has partnered with outside ministry partners for strategic planning and staffing toward revitalization. They've realigned multiple dimensions of the ministry—they renamed the church, restructured governance, enhanced facilities, launched online worship, and realigned resources for outreach. Like many churches, HCC gained momentum leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic and is steadily regaining ground. Sunday attendance is currently 72, a 12.5% increase from 2023. Today, HCC is positioned for spiritual and numerical growth as it grows younger in an up-and-coming region 15 minutes south of Indianapolis. They are excited to welcome a new Director of Worship and Family Ministries who will lead cross-functionally in this dynamic associate role.

Job requirements

The Director of Worship and Family Ministries is a cross-functional role focused primarily on leading Sunday worship experiences that honor God and engage people, as well as providing leadership to teams that lead children’s and student ministries. For strategic sustainability, it is important for this leader to develop both a Worship Team and a Family Ministry Team that are empowered to equip others who are part of or reached by Hurricane Community Church (HCC).

Specifically, the Director of Worship and Family Ministries will:

  • Lead Worship (60%)
    • Direct worship teams and leaders to create Sunday worship experiences that honor God and engage people.

  • Lead Family Ministries (40%)
    • Provide leadership that ensures family ministry programming is effective, engaging, and invites children and students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • Support existing leadership and teams in HCC’s Children’s (infant-5th grade) and Student Ministries (8-12th grade) to ensure biblically relevant teaching, worship, community, and/or service in safe/secure environments.
