Job description

2|42 is seeking a Worship Pastor committed to creating an atmosphere of excellence where Jesus is glorified through genuine and authentic expressions of worship. They are passionate about loving and leading people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by designing creative, excellent, and Spirit-led worship experiences that engage them where they are and challenge them to take their next step closer to Him. The Worship Pastor is responsible to recruit, develop, and pastor a team of worship volunteers that will lead the church towards a passionate pursuit of the presence of God and to oversee a Production Pastor who does the same. In collaboration with the Weekend Creative Director, Weekend Lead, and the 6 other campus worship staff, they leverage creativity and innovation, strive for excellence, and cultivate both relevant and authentic worship services. They will lead with authenticity and excellence out of the overflow of a personal relationship with Jesus and time spent intimately in the presence of God. The successful candidate will be a relational pastor who will both care for a team spiritually and develop musicians practically.

Job requirements

Ministry Responsibilities:

The Worship Pastor will collaborate closely with the central worship staff and the Brighton Production Pastor to design worship experiences that point to the Big Idea of the message. This includes leading a weekly Review and Planning meeting to discuss the previous Sunday and plan for future services. Other responsibilities include:


  • Contribute to building the worship culture at their 2|42 campus
  • Pastor and lead a team of volunteers: this involves recruiting, shepherding, training, equipping, and developing worship and production leaders and volunteers practically and spiritually
  • Champion and facilitate 2|42 Team Structure - a discipleship and development pipeline for musicians, vocalists, and production volunteers
  • Collaborate with central worship staff and other campus worship staff towards creative weekend programming and other settings as needed
  • Schedule teams through Planning Center Online (PCO)
  • Must understand music and be able to create charts and tracks for weekend worship (Use of Logic, Ableton, Multitracks Playback and PCO) and all other appropriate music technology
  • Maintain and update volunteer information through CCB/Planning Center
  • Participate in appropriate department meetings
  • Assist, collaborate, and contribute to the execution of the online service broadcast
  • Various worship ministry pastoral and administrative duties
  • Responsibilities:

    WEEKENDS

  • Plan and execute creative, engaging, and authentic worship elements in collaboration with the central worship staff and other campus worship staff
  • Provide oversight and training opportunities for worship volunteers in all ministry areas at the Brighton campus including kids and student spaces
  • Lead engaging, accessible worship services that direct people to God and the focus of the message
  • Manage timely communication of all relevant service details to staff and volunteers
  • Oversee production staff and volunteers in execution of in-person and online services
  • Create or secure backing tracks and charts
  • Schedule volunteer singers and instrumentalists
  • Lead rehearsals and services and train, resource, and equip volunteer leaders to do the same
  • In partnership with the Production Pastor, set up and tear down stage as needed
  • PRODUCTION PASTOR

  • Oversee and provide leadership and direction to the Production Pastor
  • Meet monthly with Production Pastor for evaluation, support, and encouragement
  • Resource and equip Production Pastor to execute services and lead their team well
  • VOLUNTEERS

  • Build, disciple, and encourage the volunteer music team
  • Meet regularly with volunteer team members
  • Care for spiritual, relational, and leadership development of team members
  • BUDGET

  • Manage Worship/Production budget for the Brighton campus
  • ALL CHURCH

  • Actively participate in all staff meetings and events
  • Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will have a deep and growing relationship with God, active involvement in the leadership of the church and campus, and have a commitment to maintaining healthy and accountable relationships. They will also have a passion to shepherd others in their walk with God and to work effectively with many key leaders is necessary.

  • 5+ years experience leading in worship or creative arts at a church of 1000+
  • Experience with Planning Center and personnel planning & scheduling
  • Experience leading a high-capacity creative arts team (~100 volunteers)
