Keystone is a growing Wesleyan church with about 500 people attending each week. Their mission is to “love and lead people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating a church that people love to attend, especially those new to church.” They are called to be a redeeming force in our community by saving lives, maturing disciples, and making disciple-makers.

The Pastor of Worship leads a team committed to creating an atmosphere of genuine and authentic expressions of worship. They are passionate about loving and leading people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by designing worship experiences that emotionally engage, involve, and challenge attendees.

Their role is to recruit, develop, and train up a team of volunteers that will lead the church toward a passionate pursuit of the presence of God. They leverage creativity and innovation and strive for excellence to cultivate both relevant and authentic worship services.


Job requirements

Keystone is seeking a champion of worship who will lead out of the overflow of a personal relationship with Jesus and time spent intimately in the presence of God. They desire a relational pastor who will both care for a team spiritually, and develop musicians practically.

Summary of Role

The Worship Pastor leads a team committed to creating an atmosphere of excellence where Jesus is glorified through genuine and authentic expressions of worship. They are passionate about loving and leading people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by designing creative, excellent, and Spirit-led worship experiences that engage them where they are and challenge them to take their next step closer to Him. The Worship Pastor is responsible to recruit, develop, and pastor a team of volunteers that will lead the church towards a passionate pursuit of the presence of God. In collaboration with the Lead Pastors, they leverage creativity and innovation, strive for excellence, and cultivate both relevant and authentic worship services.

Ministry Responsibilities

The Worship Pastor will collaborate closely with the Lead Pastors and the Tech Director to design worship experiences that point to the message. This includes leading a weekly Review and Planning meeting to discuss the previous Sunday and plan for future services. Other responsibilities include:

  • Lead rehearsal for worship and production team weekly on Tuesday evenings
  • Create and maintain physical environments that are inviting and inspiring, helping attendees from various backgrounds feel comfortable and welcome in the auditorium
  • Strategic song selection, working under the guidance of and in collaboration with the Lead Pastors and in unison with the Holy Spirit-led emphasis of the season
  • Ensure the alignment of all aspects of the weekend service flow in pointing to the main Scripture and theme of the service
  • Create a clear process to onboard, develop, train, equip, oversee, and evaluate volunteer worship leaders, vocalists, musicians, and tech volunteers
  • Program gospel-centered, heaven-focussed yet missional worship elements that declare timeless truths of our Savior and call the congregation to deeper devotion

Responsibilities

WEEKENDS

  • Plan and execute creative, engaging, and authentic worship elements in collaboration with Lead Pastors and Tech Director
  • Lead engaging, accessible worship services that direct people to God and the focus of the message
  • Manage timely communication of all relevant service details to staff and volunteers
  • Oversee production staff and volunteers in execution of in-person and online services
  • Create or secure backing tracks and charts
  • Schedule volunteer singers and instrumentalists
  • Lead rehearsals and services and train and equip volunteer leaders to do the same
  • In partnership with Tech Director, set up and tear down stage as needed

TECH DIRECTOR

  • Oversee and provide leadership and direction to the staff Tech Director
  • Meet monthly with Tech Director for evaluation, support, and encouragement
  • Resource and equip Tech Director to execute services and lead their team well

VOLUNTEERS

  • Build, disciple, and encourage the volunteer music team
  • Meet regularly with volunteer team members
  • Care for spiritual and leadership development of team members

BUDGET

  • Manage Worship/Tech budget

ALL CHURCH

  • Actively participate in all staff meetings and events

Qualifications

The Worship Pastor has a growing, vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for reaching people for Christ. The ideal candidate possesses:

  • High vision, innovation, creativity, and an ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Strong leadership development and strategic skills
  • Proven experience in multi-generational relationship building and shepherding
  • Expertise in modern worship music, including band direction, arrangement, performance, and strong vocal/instrumental skills
  • 5+ years experience leading in worship or creative arts at a church of 500+
  • Experience with Planning Center and personnel planning & scheduling
  • Experience leading a high-capacity creative arts team (~100 volunteers)
  • A collaborative, humble, and teachable approach to ministry
  • A desire to take risks, try new things, and have fun
