Church or Org Description *
Mechanicsville Christian Center was conceived 45 years ago in the hearts of a small group of Christians who were part of a charismatic home Bible study in Mechanicsville. Along with several people from West End Assembly of God, they founded MCC. Their first weekly service was held on June 15, 1975 at the Hay Market Dinner Theater with 50 people present. From the beginning, their founding members placed a high emphasis on young people and missions. These priorities are still very present today and can be seen in their thriving kid’s and student’s ministries and their vibrant mission’s program. Over the years MCC has continued to build, enlarge, and update their facilities in keeping with their growing attendance and expanding vision. Today MCC runs around 1050-1100 on a typical Sunday morning. About 20% of that increase has taken place over the past 18 months. MCC is enthusiastic about their future and impact God is enabling them to have in their community and around the world.
Family is a big deal at Mechanicsville Christian Center! MCC has designed some incredible experiences and spaces for every age and phase from birth through high school. Their hope is to partner with parents as they lead their children into a greater understanding of their faith in Christ.
This next leader will oversee everything under the umbrella of Family Ministries with a focus on family ministry culture, leadership development, and empowering the staff to lead their departments. MCC’s children’s ministry is currently being staffed by a full-time coordinator, part-time nursery director, and several phenomenal volunteer leaders. They use Orange curriculum and have seen solid growth across the age spectrum. The nursery runs around 50 on average while the pre-K and elementary ages run around 175. MCC is eager for a dynamic, high-caliber, and leader of leaders who has a passion for building a family ministry culture
