Simply put, Red Cedar Church is an unlikely story in an unlikely city. Red Cedar Church began in 1998, with a small group of people who shared a vision of reaching the lost for Jesus Christ and seeing His Kingdom come in the North Woods of Wisconsin. As Red Cedar grew, the church leadership was faced with the task of creatively accommodating the growing service attendance, a flourishing children's ministry and a staff that was increasing in size to meet the needs of the church family. They transitioned from meeting in a park to renting the local Senior Center, to purchasing and renovating a downtown furniture store. Finally, in May 2015, construction was finished on a brand new church building. Red Cedar celebrated with nearly 1,800 in attendance on opening weekend!
Red Cedar Church's demographic truly reflects its vision of "Everybody's Welcome." It's multigenerational, with a vibrant kids and student ministry, young and established families, empty nesters and the elderly alike. At any given weekend service Red Cedar Church is filled with men and women from the jail re-entry or recovery community, professionals and blue collar workers, and local doctors and business owners. Red Cedar Church is known for its outreach efforts and community programs, and for having engaging, spirit filled worship and approachable yet Bible-based teaching. As the vision states, everybody's welcome and this is recognized in the community.
At this exciting moment in the life of this ministry, Red Cedar Church believes God has called it to reach 10,000 people for Jesus in the North Woods of Wisconsin. The staff team now includes a few new faces, as well as many people who have transitioned into new roles and positions of leadership over the past two and a half years. With Red Cedar's new team in place, they are excited about the new ways that God is leading this 800-1000 person family of faith to minister to its community, the surrounding counties and beyond.
RC Kids needs a dynamic children's ministry team builder first and foremost. Building on the foundation that's been laid over the past 10 years or so, the next Children's Pastor/Director needs to be remarkably inspiring and intentional. Pulling together a deep bench of RC Kids leaders will require establishing rock solid relationships, recognizing people's strengths and spiritual gifts, and inviting them into the adventure of ministry with kids and families.
Red Cedar Church is wildly passionate about reaching its community for Christ. RC Kids is one of five ministry pillars that is key to reaching 10,000 people by 2040. Rather than only affect families who come through the lobby for worship services, the Children's Pastor/Director needs to find inroads to the broader community. The RC Kids team will be invited to champion events and initiatives that speak the language of families, go where they're at, permeate their daily lives, and equip them to purposefully disciple their kids starting at home. For children who don't come from Christian families, RC Kids needs to become an oasis ministry in and through Red Cedar so kids can experience the love, hope, and life transformation that Jesus offers. The Children's Pastor/Director can't be someone who's simply a fan of church programming for kids, he or she must have passion, equipping, and background in expanding a children's ministry's gospel reach and impact.
