About the Church:

Formed in the 1980s with roots in the Bible Church movement, The Vail Church has been ministering to a diverse community of mountain dwellers, workers and tourists for nearly 40 years. It is a non-denominational, Bible-centered, elder-governed, staff-led, and people-empowered church that has the privilege of serving people from all over the world who come to experience the beautiful Vail Valley region in Colorado! As such, you will find a very diverse group of people in age, stage of life, spiritual background, and maturity. On any given Sunday, there are people who range from the skeptical to the exploring to the committed. Though TVC’s preaching is unapologetically Bible-centered, they strive to do so in a way that is both fully accurate and yet personally relevant and practical.


Position Summary:

The Worship Director/Pastor at TVC will lead the worship arts ministry including musicians, vocalists, and production team leaders. They will be a co-creator of the service content along with Pastor Craig. They will be responsible for building and maintaining a healthy and thriving worship ministry.

  • Music and Production Gifts
  • Possesses some technology savviness, enough to intelligently supervise the technical area as needed. (Ex. This person could turn on the sound system or get Pro Presenter set up for a Sunday if needed).
  • Incredibly gifted singer.
  • Leads worship from the acoustic guitar (this instrument and position suits TVC's space well).
  • Can confidently lead a band rehearsal to accomplish bringing forth the sound they are hoping to hear.

  • Possess a deep love for Jesus and is a professed Christian.
  • Maintains a high view of Scripture and its authority as the Word of God.
  • Baptism is reserved for believers (adults or youth able to capable of making this personal decision).
  • The role of elder and pastor is reserved for men.
  • Respectfully does not practice speaking in tongues or prayers of healing within worship services.
  • Utterly committed to the work of discipleship in and through their ministry work at TVC.
  • Is a learner of the people and the culture, and seeks to minister with great awareness of TVC's unique context.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Program Sunday Worship Services

  • Be the primary stage and team leader for Sunday services and special events.
  • Take responsibility for the worship space, especially as it relates to the worship service.
  • Enthusiastically lead a high-energy contemporary blend of praise songs and hymns ensuring good theological content and encouraging congregational singing.
  • 2. Other Music-Related Leadership

  • Identify musicians within the congregation and train them to serve in various ministry contexts, including raising-up music leaders from the youth group.
  • Purchase, maintain, monitor, and repair equipment/instruments related to music, sound, lighting, and audio-visual systems.
  • 3. Administrative & Other Duties

  • Actively prepare for and participate in weekly debrief and planning meetings.
  • Attend and participate in all staff team meetings, including all check-in meetings with supervisor.
  • Participate in all other “all-in” staff events.
  • Monitor and manage the music ministry budget.
  • Manage and be the supervise the Technical Director and Worship Assistant.
