Wheaton Bible Church - High School Pastor

Job description

Wheaton Bible Church's gospel driven legacy and footprint emanates from the west suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. For 90 years, its leadership and congregation has invested deeply in biblical, multi-ethnic community with unwavering resolve to its singular mission: to see more and more people love God, grow together, and reach the world. They've been on a transformational journey together as they've shifted from being a local community church to a regional multi-site family of faith. For 30 years, Wheaton Bible Church and Spanish-speaking congregation Iglesia del Pueblo have ministered together in unity under the same governance. In 2016, Wheaton Bible Church launched its Tri-Village Campus 13 miles north in Streamwood, Illinois.

Today, roughly 4,300 people engage in Wheaton Bible Church's weekly worship services both onsite and online. You'll discover a strong commitment to teaching God's Word and declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ in every gathering. The community is well-rooted, yet genuinely vibrant, engaging, and forward moving. The congregation is presently searching for its next Senior Pastor, as Rob Bugh will retire in 2021 after 26 years in the role. Always looking to the future, God has assembled a diverse core of collaborative pastoral staff and lay leadership.

Requirements

Now is an optimal time for Wheaton Bible Church to bring on a team-oriented High School Pastor with an inherent multi-ethnic worldview to catalyze leadership and ministry with students in Grades 9-12. High School Life took a bold step of faith when it merged its English and Spanish-speaking groups three years ago. In light of this, whoever steps in to lead next will need an incredible amount of vision, wisdom, patience, sensitivity, and courage.

It's paramount that the new High School Pastor have personal, and ideally professional, experience shepherding multiple cultures and generations through the realities of biblical community that genuinely honors diversity and emboldens unity. High School Life at Wheaton Bible Church needs a humble, energetic, authentic leader who has a passion to build leadership teams and disciple students. The church knows the invaluable impact of life-on-life relationships in discipleship ministry. Early wins for the new High School Pastor will have little to do with drawing large crowds. The most important strategy will be to build relationships, model transparency, establish trust, and then equip teams of leaders and students to do the same. This will bring stability and speak the language of student's souls.
